I’m born August 1968 and currently live in Dordrecht/The Netherlands. I started playing drums when I was 7 years old on my mothers pots and pans. In 1979 I had my first band mainly playing punk covers of Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash. Having a father who listened to jazz all day I picked up a lot of the jazz legends like Max Roach, Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. After some basic lessons of Ruud Spetter and Evert Le Mair in my teens it was time to rock the stages so from 1981 till 1998 I played in many different pop, rock, country, blues and rock 'n' roll bands. Also I studied drums, gave drum lessons and band lessons at the Rotterdam Popschool.
In 1998 I rolled back into the alternative scenes of Rockabilly and Psychobilly with bands like The Penguin (Eric Haamers/Batmobile), 69Beavershot, Triple Dynamite (with Jeroen Haamers/Batmobile), Boozehounds (GER), Scam (revival) and Dee Ann & The Nightcaptains.
Also I started my company currently called "Burger Productions" offering recordings, basic drum lessons, band coaching in my home base "Mini-theater De Melkbus" in Dordrecht.
In 2009 I joined the rockabilly legends BANG BANG BAZOOKA who had been rockin' the stages since 1987. With them I have been playing at the major festivals throughout Europe like the Psychobilly Meeting in Pineda (ES), Satanic Stomp (GER), Bedlam Breakout (UK) and Tawastia Stomp (FIN). And we're still rockin'!!
In 2012 I joined LIPTEASE. A great swing/rockabilly band with young and brilliant musicians creating and performing unique versions of exsisting songs/hits. Our 2nd place in "Holland's Got Talent" in 2014 caused a huge increase of shows throughtout Holland and Belgium. Highlights were Paaspop, Concert at Sea and multiple appearances on national TV (RTL Late Night, De Wereld Draait Door). Since 2015 we also did a lot of shows in Germany. After the band's 10 years anniversary in 2018 we mutually decided to stop performing.
In 2014 I was fortunate to go on a 6 week European tour with Voodoo Swing; great rockabilly/blues from Phoenix (AZ)/USA.
Also in 2014 I joined Golly Gosh Darn. Good friends making great music together. It's a nice mix of rockabilly, punkrock, blues and swing. Love it!
In 2018 I joined The Wanderers. A great traditional rock 'n' roll band covering originals from the 50's and 60's. Currently mainly touring The Netherlands.
After Liptease decided to stop I have been aksed by many bands to fill in like Rob Heron & His Tea Pad Orchestra, Sunny Side Up, Kees van Bemmel, Noble, ThisGirlsLife, Tom Cherry & The Tennessee Three and many more projects and shows coming up.
So, yeah, I’ve been very fortunate to have a great career in drumming so far playing the major festivals throughout Europe. Getting endorsed by Ludwig Drums in 2012, Soultone Cymbals in 2014 and Kuppmen Music (sticks) in 2016 was the cream on the pie!
Since 2012 I’ve gone fully professional in the music business combining live performances with running my little theatre called “Mini-theatre De Melkbus” and my Company "Burger Productions" in Dordrecht. Hope to see you out there somewhere!
